Google has long been present in Android and its services are tied to more and more features. It is so wide-ranging that currently a phone without GMS (Google Mobile Services) is of little use. And yet you can easily use a smartphone without GMS, an example of which is me.

Phone without Google Services
When I got the Huawei P50 Pro for testing (by the way, the review will appear soon), I knew that in the end, in practice, I would test how much I managed to cut myself off from Google. I started this process some time ago and I was very slowly cutting off the next elements. Therefore, I was really happy when a smartphone without GMS fell into my hands.

What do I use instead of Google solutions?
It quickly turned out that I was not so bad at all. Interestingly, however, the simplest things caused me the biggest problem, such as contacts or a calendar, although I had a good alternative at my fingertips. First things first.

Internet browser – what instead of Google Chrome?
Here the matter was really simple, because I haven’t used Chrome for a long time. I have been using Brave Browser for some time, while for about 2-3 months it has been Mozilla Firefox . This browser works just fine, offers data syncing and add-on support. The absence of GMS causes no problems.

Unfortunately, Firefox cannot be found in the Huawei AppGallery. To install a browser with a fox in the logo, I had to use the Aurora Store. What is the Aurora Store?

Software Sources – Google Play Store not required
Huawei phones offer the AppGallery app store by default. However, this one is still moderately equipped and I decided to use AppGallery only when the application was officially available there.

I downloaded the programs mainly from two sources – F-Droid and Aurora Store. The first one offers open source software from where I downloaded many applications, including the Aurora Store. Now we can tell ourselves what Aurora is.

Well, Aurora is a replacement for the Google Play Store. Has access to applications that are present in the Play Store and downloads them directly from Google servers. But it offers us anonymous access and does not require Google Services for installation. It is the Aurora Store that is the source of many applications that I use almost every day. So if something wasn’t in F-Droid or AppGallery, I opted for the Aurora Store.
